KOL

It's been a while since I wrote about any culinary adventures, so thought I would pick things up with a belated review of KOL, one of the best new restaurants in London.

KOL, situated in Marylebone, is a Mexican restaurant that offers six and nine-course tasting menus. I opted for the six-course menu (which naturally comes with lots of little add-ons that aren't officially designated courses), and was summarily delighted by the quality of the food on offer.

The broth to start was warm, spicy and comforting, the starters delicate and refreshing, and the taco oh so delicious and creamy.

The centrepieces of the meal were a Mole with Tortillas, and a self-assembled taco with smoky hen of the woods. Absolute perfection.

To finish, a sweet tamale was served, alongside a ricotta ice cream and traditional bunuelos (cinnamon coated fried dough).

Value for money? If I recall correctly, around £120 including service charge. Its one of the best one stars out there, so absolutely.

Would I return? Yes. This is a top 10 restaurant.
