Bakery: Tarn

Tarn is tucked away in North London with minimal indoor seating. So why is it a bakery worth visiting? Well, Tarn is a new bakery (it opened up last year) by a duo, one of whom is a former Popham's pastry chef that made the bacon and maple danish. The pedigree speaks for itself.

I made the almost hour long trip on a pretty dismal Saturday to sit in at Tarn and sample a couple of their pastries, chief among them the special berry bun, as well as the honey and peach swirl (left and right above, respectively). As well as these fine creations, Tarn also has croissants, cookies and a nice selection of sandwiches on offer.

The peach and honey swirl looked more interesting than it actually was (though still good!), while the berry bun was a real treat. Either of these you could expect to see gracing the counter at Popham's, I'm sure.

Its a bit of a trek from Hammersmith (where I live( to Highgate, but if you're in North London then it's an artisanal bakery that is definitely worth seeking out.
